Solgar Standardised Full Potency (SFP) Herbs (standardised herb extract + whole raw herb)
Combines ideologies of traditional herbalism that a herbal compound
should contain all components of herb, plus standardisation of known
active herb compounds. Standardised compounds are thus blended with
whole raw herb powder to produce a standardised herbal extract with
all the synergistic qualities of the herb found in nature.
Black Cohosh - Cimicifuga racemosa
Black Cohosh is the best selling woman's herb in Germany, and with good
reason. The herb has been studied extensively and has been shown in
several studies to be superior to HRT in relieving menopausal symptoms
such as hot flushes, depression and vaginal dryness.
Increased levels of luteinising hormone (LH) at the menopause (this
happens when oestrogen levels fall) are believed to cause many
menopausal problems, and Black Cohosh actively lowers levels of LH.
Black Cohosh has a calming effect upon the immune system and has been
used to lower blood pressure. It is also regularly used to help relieve
pre-menstrual symptoms (PMS).
All standardised full potency herbs are combined with a mix of compounds with antioxidant
properties to help maintain the herb's freshness, stability and integrity. These include:
Mixed Tocopherols; Mixed Carotenoids; Rosemary Extract; Vitamin C.
